FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: WHAT DOES 23 1/2 HOURS SERVICE MEAN?

A: We are just trying to get your attention! Now that we've got it!!!!!

B: Nobody's perfect and it's just that we're more open and honest and admit it.

C: We take a half hour break and it rotates through out the day so be careful when you phone us.

Q: WHICH TYPES OF CLEANING AGENTS DOES MAGICLEAN USE TO CLEAN MY CARPETS?

A: Because MAGICLEAN depends primarily upon soft hot water and vacuum extraction to clean the carpet, we eliminate the need for excessive and aggressive amounts of chemicals or solvents.

Q: WHAT IS FABRIC PROTECTION & HOW DOES IT WORK?

A: With Fabric Protection treatment your carpet and furniture stay cleaner longer, and keep the "look" that you paid for. Fabric Protection makes it difficult for dirt particles to cling to fibers or for spills to penetrate the fibers. Fabric Protection can also reduce static electricity and discomfort associated with static discharge.

Q: WHAT CAUSES MILDEW TO SMELL MUSTY?

A: Mildew is a destructive growth that feeds on a variety of organic materials and can cause permanent fiber damage. Dormant mildew exists freely in the environment and is activated by conditions of dampness and warmth, often within 72 hours. When mildew is eating away at the fibers, a musty odor is caused by the digestive action. When, through proper treatment, this odor is no longer present, it means that the mildew attacking the fibers has been neutralized.

Q: WHY DOES HOT WATER CLEAN THE BEST?

A: We all know that it is easier to clean things with hot water than with cold water, and the hotter the water the better. There's a practical reason. The cleaning power of water doubles every 18 degrees after it reaches 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Water at 160F will therefore clean 2x2=4 times more effectively than water less than 120F in temperature.

Q: WHAT IS THE PH SCALE?

A: The pH scale refers to the degree of acidity or alkalinity of a solution. The scale ranges from 0 - 14; 7 being neutral. Drinking water has a pH of 6.5 to 7.5; soda pop around 4; soap about 9. since most soil is acid (4-6), most cleaning agents are alkaline (8-9). After cleaning it's best to leave the pH as close to 7 as possible.

Q: HOW DO I PROLONG THE APPEARANCE OF MY FRESHLY CLEANED CARPETS

A: * Avoid excessive traffic on your carpets until they are completely dried, which will take 4-12 hours.

* Any dirt that gets onto your carpet when wet will turn to mud and penetrate into the fibers of the carpet.

* Do not remove the protective blocks or tabs that have been placed under your furniture until the carpet is completely dried.

* Place a walk-off mat at your entrance ways. Have these mats cleaned regularly.

* Vacuum regularly - daily cleaning keeps soil from building up in the carpets.

* Use Scotch-guarding with every steam-cleaning - this protects the fibers of your carpets.

* Have your carpets steam extracted at least once a year to maintain optimal life of your carpets.
