Topic: Professional Steam-Cleaning Procedure
Q: What is the professional process in cleaning?
A: Professional carpet cleaning depends on four things:
- Time
- This refers to the amount of time that the chemical is left to dwell in the carpet
- The minimum dwell time is 10 minutes. The maximum time is the amount of time before the carpet becomes dry.
- Agitation
- In heavy traffic areas, agitate 4-6 strokes in a crisscross pattern
- In normal conditions, 2 passes with the carpet rake is sufficient
- Agitation allows for the suspension of subsurface soil.
- Chemicals
- this refers to the product used in pre-spray
- The application of chemical allows for the suspension of soil for easy extraction
- It is most important that the proper pre-spray is used.
- Temperature
- This refers to the temperature of the water at the wand. The cleaning power of water actually doubles every 18F after 118F (we tell customers 120F for simplicity). In practical terms, this means:
118F to 136F = 2x the cleaning power
118F to 154F = 4x the cleaning power
118F to 172F = 8x the cleaning power
118F to 190F = 16x the cleaning power
118F to 222F = 32x the cleaning power
118F to 240F = 64x the cleaning power
